Find Hope for Your Parenting Journey
Support for parents of kids with brain-based differences and challenging behavior
Is Parent Coaching for You?
Are you…
tired of feeling like you’re all alone on your parenting journey?
ready to try something new because the old way isn’t working and might actually be making things worse?
trying to make sense of intense, challenging, or sometimes scary behaviors?
wishing for more connection with your child and fewer power struggles?
wanting to parent from your values but find yourself acting in ways you never thought you would?
If this describes you, parent coaching could be a big step in the right direction. You can learn what is driving your child’s behaviors and how to really help them. I’ve been there and can offer you support and guidance so you don’t have to walk this path alone. More connection and less overwhelm can be a reality.
Parent Coaching with Kristie
I work with parents in a virtual video call format - $130 per 50 minute session. We will talk in depth about your family situation and use a variety of tools to develop a deeper understanding of your child and how their unique brain works. We will use this information to design an individualized plan, moving you forward toward greater connection, confidence, and peace in your parenting. Some families have a specific issue they want help with while others are looking for more long term support. You don’t have to go it alone. I’m here to walk with you for a short jaunt or on a longer journey.
Parent coaching is somewhat similar yet distinct from counseling. I am a certified facilitator of the FASCETS Neurobehavioral Approach and this is the foundational model I work from. While I have a masters degree in Counseling Psychology, I am a parent coach, not a licensed counselor.
What is the Neurobehavioral Approach?
The neurobehavioral approach is a brain-based approach. It considers the role that brain function plays in all the behaviors you see every day. It’s a shift in thinking about how we understand the source of behaviors as opposed to merely focusing on the behaviors themselves. This shift allows us to know which actions can lead to positive change, no more blindly trying strategies that may have worked wonders for other people’s kids but don’t seem to phase your child.
Regardless of whether your child has received one diagnosis, several, or none at all, the neurobehavioral approach is effective and appropriate for people all along the spectrum of neurodiversity. This is not a one-size-fits-all program. We will focus on your child’s individual strengths and challenges as the basis for our work together in order to create a custom tailored plan that fits your family. Rather than trying to change behavior on a surface level, we will be looking deeper to see what is underneath the behaviors and then determine what types of support and accommodations will be most beneficial.
