Welcome!

I’m Kristie, a parent coach helping parents understand how the brain influences all behavior (the good, the bad, and the ugly) and how to respond with empathy, compassion, and creativity to build a framework for change.

I started parent coaching because I want to help parents of kids with challenging behaviors find real answers and a new path toward peace and hope for their family. As both a parent coach and an adoptive parent, I know what it’s like to struggle trying to figure out my kid’s difficult and confusing behaviors. It can feel like being lost in the dark with no idea how to turn the lights on.

After much searching, I discovered that by taking a brain-based (Neurobehavioral) approach, so many confusing behaviors started to make sense and the way forward became clear. I can help you begin to understand your child more deeply and see what’s underneath - the “why” that causes them to they act the way they do. With this knowledge you can begin to approach them with more compassion. You can feel confident about which actions to take rather than being overwhelmed with frustration and confusion.

Portland, Oregon, is my stateside home but I currently live in Okinawa, Japan, with my husband and our three tween/teens. No matter your time zone, I’m available to work with parents worldwide.

For many families, I know that finding a coach who understands and aligns with their faith practice is an important factor. To help facilitate your decision, please know that I am a practicing Christian and am happy to incorporate elements of Christian faith such as prayer and scripture into your sessions if you desire. That being said, I genuinely welcome and look forward to working with people from all backgrounds.
